Description

Join the industry leader to design the next generation of breakthroughs
We are seeking a Lead R&D Engineer/Scientist to lead the research, testing, and evaluation of refrigerant flammability properties to ensure compliance with industry safety standards and regulations. The engineer will work on the development and assessment of low-global-warming-potential (GWP) refrigerants, conduct flammability test, and effectively communicate technical information to industry and customers to assist their transition to new environmentally safer refrigerant substitutes.
Be part of a team that applies its expertise and knowledge to technical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve research, techniques, procedures, and products and technologies. This job will facilitate design, development, and testing to meet project objectives faster and more efficiently and you develop and commercialize products & technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments to assess refrigerant flammability characteristics, including lower flammability limits (LFL), upper flammability limits (UFL), minimum ignition energy (MIE), and burning velocity.
  • Develop and validate test methods for evaluating ignition sources, flame propagation, and autoignition temperatures.
  • Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or other modeling techniques for flammability risk assessment.
  • Ensure compliance with industry safety regulations and standards, such as ASHRAE 34, ISO 817 requirements.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies, certification agencies, and industry groups to stay updated on evolving flammability classifications and safety guidelines.
  • Assist in developing new refrigerants.
