JOB SUMMARY

This role lies within the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Directorate, embedded in the Enablers Portfolio and aligned to the Metis Product Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the operational integrity, service continuity, and strategic alignment of Metis, the Home Office’s Oracle Fusion-based ERP platform supporting HR, Finance, Payroll, and Procurement for over 55,000 users.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a senior member of the Enablers Metis Live Services team, you will play a leading role in the management of IT related Change to Services within the Home Office. You will be expected to navigate the complex landscape of technologies, 3rd party suppliers, internal and cross-government teams in order to provide a key service within DDaT. You will need to be able to make difficult decisions based on information gathered and effectively assess risk, applying process, methods, tools and applications to provide the best possible availability and performance from the technology.
You will set the strategy for the Operational Release Management, deciding areas of focus and priority, ensuring that processes are well-documented and reflective of best practice, and agreeing templates and frameworks for process variations that might be applicable across services and portfolios.
You will be expected to manage and get the best out of team members and suppliers in order to provide the best possible service and deliver work in a timely and efficient manner. You will have strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills as well as an ability to prioritise and implement decisions quickly.
You will be expected to understand the organisation’s strategic decisions, direction, policies to ensure the team’s goals and targets are in alignment.

UK RESIDENCY AND SECURITY REQUIREMENTS

Please note that this role requires Security Check (SC) clearance, which would normally need 5 years’ UK residency in the past 5 years.
However, in exceptional circumstances security clearance applications for candidates who have been present in the UK for at least 3 of last 5 years may be considered. Failure to meet this residency requirement will result in your security clearance application being rejected.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Your main day to day responsibilities will be:

  • Leading the team to oversee the process of release, allocating workload and acting as the highest escalation point if there are any issues.
  • Providing specialist advice and being responsible for the approval, prioritisation and refusal of major Release Requests, ensuring all authorised releases maintain the integrity of the IT architecture and are within budget and resource constraints.
  • Overseeing teams to ensure that services are delivered by the team and suppliers within defined timescales and are well documented.
  • Developing policies, processes and procedures in line with best practice to deliver quality services, seeking ways to automate and draw on efficiencies from other Service Management areas where possible.
  • Providing reporting to senior IT Operations and wider DDaT management, representing the function on various boards and forms of governance.
  • Driving continual service improvements through the measurement and challenge of services and processes, using tools and capability to automate where appropriate, and reflecting on outputs from Post Implementation reviews.

Due to business requirements this post is available on a full time/flexible working basis. Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. Where this is the case, employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in the office. This role is not suitable for part-time working due to the nature of the role.
UK residency and security requirements - This role requires Security clearance. Typically you will need to have lived in the UK for the past 5 years to obtain this clearance.
