Organization: VCH Respiratory Therapy Job Summary: Responsible for assistance in the development of the department by efficient delivery of cardiopulmonary care by providing support for the Respiratory Director and assisting in leading the Respiratory team. Under medical supervision the respiratory therapist will be responsible for the delivery of cardiopulmonary services to patients in all areas of the facility. The therapist is expected to perform duties and responsibilities with only minimal or indirect supervision and must frequently make independent decisions. Standards of performance as determined by the Respiratory Therapy Department must be maintained. . Key Responsibilities: Provide oxygen administration Arterial Puncture and blood gas analysis Ventilator management Non-invasive ventilator management Aersolized medication Pulse oximetery Chest physiotherapy Airway management Responds to Codes Attend high risk births Perform EKG's as needed Make daily assignments Staff scheduling Serve as immediate supervisor should the Director not be in the facility Technical Capabilities: Laboratory Testing & Analysis (Advanced): Demonstrates the ability to apply knowledge of laboratory tests to diverse areas of the department. Demonstrates the uppermost levels of expertise in laboratory testing in challenging and complex situations. Often takes a lead role in highly pressurized situations when there is a need to achieve results. Consistently delivers laboratory tests and analysis in a creative and imaginative manner while setting a standard for others. Contributes in the development of testing and analysis best practices for the organization. Able to converse intelligently with users, customers, and management on the impact of laboratory testing technology and competition on the business itself. Ventilator Management (Advanced): Demonstrates the uppermost levels of expertise in applying ventilator management in challenging and complex situations. Often takes a lead role in highly pressurized situations when there is a need to achieve results. Consistently delivers ventilator management services in a creative and imaginative manner while setting a standard for others. Actively participates in outside professional organizations and forums. Contributes in the development of ventilator management best practices for the organization. Respiratory Therapeutic Procedures (Advanced): Demonstrates the uppermost levels of expertise in applying respiratory therapeutic procedures in challenging and complex situations. Often takes a lead role in highly pressurized situations when there is a need to achieve results.
