Description
About Origin Origin (previously 10xConstruction) is building general-purpose autonomous robots for US construction to tackle rising costs, safety risks, and labour shortages. Our modular, multi-trade platform combines purpose-built hardware with real-time site intelligence to navigate complex environments and execute tasks with precision. Trained in high-fidelity simulation and already deployed on live sites, our robots deliver 5x faster execution, 250%+ margin expansion, and significant cost savings. Join India’s most talent-dense robotics team consisting of individuals from IITs, Stanford, UCLA, etc. About the role - As the Lead of Robotics Deployment and QA, you are the ultimate gatekeeper of product quality. You represent the customer. You are the last layer of defense before a robot hits a live construction site. You will architect the global quality assurance strategy, own the deployment playbook, and establish the rigorous testing pipelines that span both high-fidelity simulation and brutal physical field tests. While you won't be writing the core C++ control loops, your deep technical understanding will drive complex Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and force the engineering teams to build better, more reliable systems. Key Responsibilities Global QA Strategy & Release Management: Architect the end-to-end Quality Assurance pipeline, defining the criteria for what constitutes a "field-ready" release. Act as the final technical authority to block or approve hardware/software releases based on empirical test data and customer requirements. Establish sophisticated Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies to stress-test the robot's edge cases in multi-planar construction environments. Deployment Operations & Customer Emulation: Lead on-site deployments, managing the logistics, safety protocols, and initial customer handoffs. Mimic the end-user. Constantly evaluate the robot not just for "does it work," but for "is it usable, intuitive, and safe for a construction worker?" Own the global User Manual and technical documentation standards, ensuring they accurately reflect real-world operation and troubleshooting. Advanced Diagnostics & Engineering Coordination: Own the global Bug Reporting Pipeline. Define the taxonomy for hardware/software anomalies. Lead cross-disciplinary RCA meetings. Use your engineering prowess to isolate complex system-level failures, capturing precise diagnostic data (ROS bags, hardware logs) to give the development teams exact reproducibility conditions. Coordinate A/B testing on the field to validate engineering fixes. Leadership: Build and mentor a world-class team of Deployment and QA engineers, instilling a culture of operational excellence and extreme ownership. Required Qualifications and Skills - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science). 8+ years of experience in QA, field deployment, systems engineering, or test engineering for complex electromechanical systems (robotics, automotive, aerospace). Deep understanding of ROS/ROS 2 logging tools (rosbag, Foxglove) and basic scripting (Python/Bash) for data extraction. Expert in statistical analysis, DOE, and reliability engineering. Ruthless attention to detail and a customer-obsessed mindset. Exceptional communication skills to bridge the gap between field operators and core software/hardware developers. Preferred Experiences - Experience deploying products in harsh environments (construction, mining, agriculture). Proven track record of building QA/Deployment teams from scratch at a hardware startup. Gain experience in a dynamic startup environment at the forefront of robotics and AI innovation. Contribute to the development of technology that will revolutionize the construction industry. Work alongside a talented and passionate team committed to making a real-world impact. Learn from experienced professionals and gain valuable skills in robotics software engineering. Gain practical experience in a real-world engineering environment. Contribute to a project with the potential to make a significant impact on the construction industry.
Responsibilities
The Lead will architect the global quality assurance strategy, own the deployment playbook, and establish rigorous testing pipelines spanning simulation and physical field tests. This role involves acting as the final technical authority to approve releases and leading on-site deployments while mimicking the end-user experience.
