Ontario Health’s Sector Capacity & Performance (SCP) portfolio plays a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable and accountable healthcare system. It provides leadership in system planning, funding, and performance management, while supporting healthcare sectors through policy guidance and system insights. SCP acts as a key connector between Ontario Health portfolios and system partners, including the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care.
Reporting to the Director, Funding Unit, and working closely with the Advisor, SCP, the Lead, Strategic Priorities & Business Optimization, will drive transformative strategic initiatives across Ontario Health portfolios and external stakeholders. This role emphasizes autonomy, adaptability, and initiative, requiring strong relationship management, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills to foster collaboration and support business transformation.
The initial focus will be on planning and implementing a new Funding Management System (FMS) to streamline funding approval and management processes. Responsibilities include stakeholder engagement, requirement gathering, process mapping, and change management. The Lead will also contribute to other key SCP initiatives, ensuring effective process optimization and execution.

Here is what you will be doing

  • Lead strategic, project-based initiatives within SCP, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Apply expertise in project management, change management, and process improvement from planning to implementation.
  • Operate effectively in dynamic and ambiguous environments with sound judgment and proactive problem-solving.
  • Manage multiple complex initiatives concurrently with minimal direction.
  • Develop project workplans, roadmaps, and tracking tools for oversight of deliverables and risks.
  • Facilitate collaborative planning and decision-making across portfolios and with internal/external partners.
  • Create process maps, gap analyses, and future-state designs for informed decision-making.
  • Implement change management strategies to support stakeholder readiness and sustainability.
  • Monitor progress against milestones and KPIs, providing updates to leadership and partners.

Here is what you will be doing

Education and Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred in a relevant discipline (e.g., Health Administration, Business Administration), or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives, including implementation of new or revised processes
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent experience is an asset
  • Formal training and/or certification in Lean, Change Management, and Group Facilitation considered strong assets
  • Experience working with leaders and engaging in system and organizational-level planning
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario’s healthcare system required

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven track record in planning, delivering, and executing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Strong skills in project management, change management, and process improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled in facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and building consensus among diverse partners
  • Experience coordinating and facilitating medium to large-scale stakeholder engagements is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing briefings, presentations, and reports for senior audiences
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and goal-oriented mindset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Project/Planner, and Visio
