ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. The primary purpose of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Grade 3 is to provide advanced clinical leadership and consultancy, research, education and service planning for both the Sydney LHD Sexual Assault Service and the wider field of medical and forensic sexual assault. This role will also ensure the program is established at RPA as a state leader in its specialty.

The key responsibilities of the role are to:

  • Provide clinical leadership, strategic direction, advanced education, and expert clinical care and consultancy to both the SLHD Sexual Assault Medical Service and the Sexual assault medical and forensic field of practice.
  • Provide medical and forensic responses and health care (within scope of practice) to people who have experienced violence, abuse and neglect (including crisis responses, non-acute, and follow up medical care and health care navigation).
  • Participate a 24-hour crisis roster (including after hours on call) – sexual assault and domestic and family violence services (or integrated VAN Service).
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a statewide integrated psychosocial, medical and forensic domestic and family violence crisis model.
  • Participate in the review and implementation of an expanded scope of practice for nurses to respond to violence, abuse and neglect.
