Description

ABOUT US

At AVS Design Concepts, we don’t just install tech—we craft experiences. Think Iron Man’s Jarvis or The Jetsons’ space-age homes. For nearly two decades, we’ve made cutting-edge smart home systems a reality. From high-end A/V installs and seamless automation to hanging a TV with a cable box, we do it all. We make new installs work the way the client expects and old installs that last as long as they are viable. We specialize in bringing peace of mind, jaw-dropping tech, and the highest quality workmanship to our clients.
We’re a team of tinkerers, builders, and problem-solvers who love what we do and take pride in doing it better than anyone else. We believe in quality—of work, of life, and of people. And, if you ask any of our employees, you’ll learn we genuinely care about each other — at work or at home. We want the absolute best for you and anyone you call family.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in high-end residential A/V and smart home system installation
  • Experience in security system installations (alarm, surveillance, access control) is a strong plus
  • Proficiency with rack building, structured wiring, audio distribution, video zones, and IP/networking
  • Strong experience with at least one major control system (Control4, Elan/Nice, URC, etc.)
  • Solid grasp of residential construction practices (you can work around framing, drywall, etc.)
  • Confidence using wire terminations: RJ45, coax, speaker wire, Cat6, fiber, etc.
  • A strong troubleshooting mindset—you’re curious, persistent, and methodical
  • Comfortable lifting up to 75 pounds and working in attic/basement environments
  • High emotional intelligence—you know how to read a room, earn trust, and make clients feel heard
  • Always strive for 100% client satisfaction, not just completion
  • A clean driving record and the maturity to represent our brand in high-end homes

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As a Lead Smart Home Technician, you’ll lead the charge on high-end A/V and automation installs—from concept to completion. You’ll be the go-to expert for complex residential systems, confidently navigating racks, wiring, network setups, and control systems. You’ll make the magic happen—and make it look easy.

YOUR HIGH-LEVEL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run and manage custom A/V, control, and networking installs from start to finish
  • Interpret schematics, plans, and scopes with confidence—no hand-holding needed
  • Rack, terminate, label, and test like a pro
  • Program and troubleshoot systems (Control4, URC, Lutron, etc.)
  • Provide post-install education and support to clients with ease and professionalism
  • Lead or mentor junior techs on job sites when needed
  • Maintain detailed documentation and uphold high standards of cleanliness, organization, and finish quality
  • Collaborate with the team to improve system design, efficiency, and install flow
  • Adapt and reprioritize quickly—comfortably juggle changing demands across multiple projects
  • Participate in on-call service rotation (approx. 1–2 times/month)

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS:

This is more than running cable or hanging TVs. It’s about creating smart spaces that work seamlessly and look flawless. Your skills help deliver the “wow” factor—and your professionalism helps clients feel confident in their investment. If you want to join a company that’s as serious about excellence as you are, we’d love to meet you.
