LEAD SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

DOCOsoft are hiring for an experienced Lead Developer to work with our Platform team. Our Platform team create innovative, scalable software solutions for the London & Global Insurance Markets. Beyond full involvement in the overall software development lifecycle, this role requires strong technical decision-making & problem-solving abilities.
The Lead dev will actively shape performance through mentorship, guidance, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions in line with DOCOsoft’s mission, vision & values.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of hands-on software development experience with complex projects, including proven technical leadership and team mentorship
  • Extensive experience building enterprise applications using technologies such as .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript, REST APIs, Entity Framework, and SQL
  • Advanced proficiency in development tools and practices: Microsoft Developer tools, IIS, RedGate, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and scalable architecture design
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in team management, stakeholder relationships, and driving technical consensus, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Experience with annual performance processes and maintaining a calm, trustworthy leadership presence
  • Experience working in an agile team developing highly available, highly scalable, secure applications on Azure or AWS utilizing both IAAS and PAAS
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

  • Lead, mentor, and manage performance of Software Developers, including recruitment, technical coaching through code reviews, and best practice guidance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Leads to align on project goals, timelines, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions
  • Proactively communicate with internal stakeholders to address development plans and resolve issues
  • Champion modern development practices, including TDD, DDD, SOLID principles, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Research and prototype technical solutions, focusing on scalable architectures that align with the company’s technology roadmap
  • Ensure consistent high-quality documentation and adherence to technical standards
  • Track and report on key metrics (code quality, team performance) and drive continuous improvement initiatives
