Job Title: Lead Android Software Engineer/Developer.
Salary & Benefits: £70,900 to £86,600 per annum, plus benefits listed below.
Location: Bristol.
Hybrid working: Two days per week in the office and three days working from home.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Consumer Servicing and Engagement Platform for an Android Engineer.

You have a can-do attitude coupled with an interest in exploring technologies beyond your core skills and are willing to learn are highly motivated with a passion for working with people. You’ll work in a strong collaborative way to drive efforts to create, build, support and improve our applications. You’ll also enjoy working closely with the product and other engineering teams with lots of exciting new challenges. You’ll be a core contributor to ensure good quality and engineering practices are followed in accordance with engineering transformation strategy.

Additionally, you’ll:

  • Own and continually improve upon our Messaging Android entry points and integration of Mobile SDK with a 3rd Party.
  • Contribute to the Android chapter and help it address more complex problems that require new approaches to be introduced.
  • Coach and help develop more junior members of the team, including other data scientists, graduates and apprentices.

About you

  • Strong experience with Android frameworks, multi-module architecture, dependency injection (e.g., Dagger/Hilt), and asynchronous programming (e.g., Coroutines).
  • Proven track record in performance tuning, memory management, and debugging for Android applications at scale.
  • Integration of external 3rd party SDKs in Android.
  • Solid grasp of architecture patterns (MVVM/MVI, Clean Architecture) and modularization strategies for large codebases.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members across different departments and engineers from 3rd party SaaS provider.
  • Proficient in Google’s Android design principles, interface guidelines and code versioning tools, such as Git.
  • Experience in unit testing, UI testing, and familiarity with mobile testing, including frameworks like JUnit.
