Responsibilities

So, what will you be doing as a Lead Software Engineer?

  • Lead requirements capture, design, implementation, and verification of a bare-metal, real-time embedded C system.
  • Ensure compliance with DO-178C Level A, including traceability, rigorous testing, and quality assurance.
  • Drive quality through regular design and code reviews.
  • Manage and mentor a team of software engineers, providing direction and technical oversight.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (hardware, systems, and test engineering) to ensure seamless integration.
  • Provide project status updates to stakeholders and contribute to program reviews.
  • Foster effective communication across the engineering team and wider business.

What are we looking for in our next Lead Software Engineer?

  • Proven experience developing bare-metal, real-time embedded systems in C.
  • Strong knowledge of DO-178C Level A standards, processes, and documentation.
  • Experience in safety-critical systems with understanding of certification requirements (including MCDC testing).
  • Proficiency in real-time software design (RTOS experience desirable).
  • Familiarity with debugging tools, hardware interfaces, and safety analysis techniques.
  • Demonstrated success leading software teams in safety-critical or aerospace environments.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
