As part of its Embedded Systems Business Unit, PACE is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to take a key role in an exciting new project with a major aircraft manufacturer.
The selected candidate will lead the design, development, and delivery of a state-of-the-art Virtual Cockpit Interface Simulator, which will form a core component advanced training facilities.
This role combines technical leadership, hands-on engineering, and direct product engagement, offering the opportunity to shape a high-profile aerospace simulation system from the ground up.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES:
Lead the technical design and development of the Virtual Cockpit subsystem using C++, Qt/QML, and OpenGL;
Serve as the main technical focal point toward the customer, translating requirements into implementable solutions;
Drive requirement analysis, architecture definition, and design reviews;
Guide the development team in implementing cockpit displays, controls, and UI components compliant with real-time simulation constraints;
Oversee performance optimization to meet stringent latency requirements;
Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation;
Coordinate with project management to align technical progress with schedule and quality objectives.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Proven experience as a Technical Lead or Senior Software Engineer in complex, real-time simulation or avionics projects;
Expertise in C++, Qt/QML, and OpenGL development;
Experience with UI modelling tools and reusable QML component development;
Strong understanding of real-time graphical rendering and performance optimization;
Familiarity with cockpit interface systems;
Proficiency in requirement analysis, architecture design, and stakeholder communication;
Experience with technical documentation and participation in design reviews; Knowledge of Linux (Debian), CMake, and Git-based workflows.
OPTIONAL TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Understanding of simulation environments;
Familiarity with OpenSceneGraph and aircraft display rendering;
Exposure to aerospace/defense industry standards and security constraints.
The ideal candidate also has excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
