About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer. In this role, you will: Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor Required Qualifications: 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education Desired Qualifications: 10+ years of experience building large-scale enterprise frameworks, libraries, or platform components. Strong hands-on expertise in: Java (Spring Boot, Microservices, Cloud-native patterns), Python, GenAI technologies (LLMs, RAG, embeddings, prompt engineering, LangChain/LlamaIndex) Expertise with CI/CD (GitHub, Jenkins, pipelines-as-code) and SDLC automation. Experience building reusable templates, code generators, or InnerSource libraries. Understanding of: Security-by-design, SDLC risk controls, Performance engineering and scalability patterns, NFR engineering (logging, audits, resiliency). Experience contributing to or managing large-scale frameworks across multiple programming languages. Exposure to GenAI integrations in engineering workflows (e.g., GitHub Copilot extensibility, automated code remediation). Knowledge of cloud-native design (Kubernetes, containers, service mesh). Familiarity with developer portal ecosystems, plugin systems, or IDP integrations. Background in platform engineering, technical risk management, or architecture functions Job Expectations: Overall 10+ years of experience including Platform Engineering, Testing Automation as well as Frameworks design and management within Platform Organizations Should have at least 6 years of development and engineering experience for both UI and API modules. Experience with Microservices and Cloud technologies Fully well versed with CICD Pipeline onboarding process including adoption of control gates such Code Quality leveraging Sonar and Test automation tools Keep abreast with new tools / technologies and providing recommendations for process improvements Must have ability to develop understanding of the application architecture Must have attention to detail, a commitment to Quality and be business focused. Strong presentation and training skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have strong time management skills.
