Job Description

This role focuses on developing Python-based tooling to support a GMP-regulated AI pipeline for pathology data. The primary objective is to manage the lifecycle of whole slide images (WSI), from scanner ingestion to de-identification and dataset management. This is a scientific, data-oriented position rather than a traditional software engineering role, focusing on deployable tools and reliable pipelines rather than microservice architectures.Core Responsibilities1 Full Tool Lifecycle You will manage projects from gathering requirements with scientists and pathologists to designing, building, testing, and maintaining solutions.1 Technical Focus Areas Developing data ingestion and metadata pipelines for massive whole slide images.1 Implementing de-identification and integrity checks for WSI files.1 Creating tools for dataset stratification and splitting.1 Building lightweight management and review user interfaces.1 Ensuring high code quality through CI/CD, packaging, and comprehensive testing.1 Workflow The team heavily utilizes AI-assisted development for tasks ranging from code review to requirements exploration, and they value experience in optimizing team-wide AI usage.1 What They Are Looking For Essential Skills Proficiency in writing clean, documented, and testable Python code.1 Ability to manage data, including tabular data, validation, and file-based pipelines.1 Strong engineering judgment, focusing on designing simple, maintainable systems and avoiding over-engineering.1 Self-direction and the ability to solve problems independently given context.1 Beneficial Background Experience with image or signal processing libraries (e.g., PIL, OpenCV).1 Knowledge of SQL, data warehousing, and CI/CD tools like Docker, GitHub Actions, or uv.1 Familiarity with building lightweight Python UIs (e.g., NiceGUI, Gradio).1 Prior experience working in regulated environments (e.g., GxP, ISO, medical devices).1
