Job Description Summary We’re looking for a Lead Sourcing Engineer to help bring a next-generation MRI technology—our Gradient Coil platform—to market. In this role, you’ll lead sourcing strategy for a critical new product introduction (NPI), partnering closely with engineering to build the supply base from the ground up. You’ll work at the intersection of engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing—playing a key role early in the product development process to ensure we deliver high-quality, innovative products on time and at the right cost. This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role with the opportunity to directly influence product design, supplier strategy, and the successful launch of a new MR platform. Location: Florence, SC - hybrid (3+ days on site) Travel: Up to 20% (domestic) Relocation: Available Sponsorship: Not available for this role Job Description What You’ll Do Lead sourcing strategy and execution for new product introduction (NPI) programs—from early design through production launch Partner closely with engineering teams to shape supplier strategy, selection, and early design decisions Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers that meet technical, quality, and cost requirements Participate in design reviews, providing input on manufacturability, cost optimization, and supplier feasibility Drive cost optimization initiatives, including should-cost analysis and supplier negotiations Balance cost, quality, and innovation in sourcing decisions Bring forward supplier capabilities, new technologies, and ideas to support product development Own ongoing supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and cost metrics Proactively identify and mitigate supplier-related risks Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, project management, sourcing, and manufacturing teams Support and expand early supplier involvement (ESI) capabilities within MR Ensure suppliers meet all quality and regulatory requirements What We’re Looking For (Required Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) Minimum 5 years of experience in sourcing, supplier engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain within a technical environment Hands-on experience working with engineering specifications, technical drawings, and product requirements Experience working directly with suppliers (sourcing, supplier quality, manufacturing, or similar) Proven ability to understand and communicate technical requirements across engineering teams and suppliers Experience leading or owning sourcing efforts for new product introduction (NPI) or product development programs Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device preferred; aerospace, automotive, or similar also considered) Experience with complex components or assemblies Experience driving cost reduction initiatives and supplier negotiations Why This Role Work on next-generation MRI technology that directly impacts patient care Influence product design early—not just execution after decisions are made Shape supplier strategy and bring innovation into the development process Collaborate with a highly technical, mission-driven team Opportunity to grow within a global organization Location & Benefits Florence, SC (onsite) – relocation support available Competitive salary range + annual bonus Full GE HealthCare benefits package Strong career growth and internal mobility opportunities A Note to Candidates We know not every candidate will meet every qualification—and that’s okay.
