Overall Purpose: As the lead negotiator for AT&T of strategic third-party Software-As-A-Service (SaaS) and cloud-based Subscription Software deals, this position manages the end-to-end sourcing processes for purchase of third-party SaaS and cloud-based Subscription Software services, and related agreements (support, training, professional services, CSP Marketplace agreements) across the AT&T Enterprise, or to be resold to AT&T’s end customers. Role will be responsible to negotiate, manage, monitor and strategically source supplier contracts, from request for proposal, quote, information – RFX through contract execution. In addition, acts as an advocate for AT&T, both internally and with suppliers, to mitigate impacts of policy, reduce risk, and drive successful outcomes for AT&T through negotiation. The position will report under Wireless Transformation & Supply Chain (WTSC) organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Graduate/Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with Procurement, business law or CPM experience, or Graduate/Bachelor’s degree. Juris doctor degrees a plus
  • 5+ years’ experience in management of strategic supplier relationships and contracts
  • Ability to manage intense workload within short timeframes; Process orientated approach
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, legal drafting of custom language and communication skills
  • Business, cost management and quality experience
  • Skilled in independently creating Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and “What-If” scenario financial modeling and analysis for comparative sourcing events
  • Understanding of complex contractual T&Cs including intellectual property ownership
  • Experience with Cloud Service Providers (e.g. Azure, AWS, etc), SaaS and SW licensing
  • Ability to generate comprehensive commercial deal sheet terms by fully understanding client technical requirements, demand/usage and budget forecasts, supplier products/services and defining flexibility terms to adequately support contractual use by multiple business units
  • Inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoys working hard and being continually challenged
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, common sense, and a good sense of humor with strong business acumen

Responsibilities:

  • Builds and executes a sourcing strategy aligned with clients for assigned categories, creates and executes contracts, determines optimal contract term and pricing using benchmarking and should-cost analysis, and drives savings that achieve client objectives while providing risk protection for AT&T.
  • Provides interpretation of terms and conditions of contractual obligations and acts when contractual provisions are not met by the supplier (e.g., termination letters, bankruptcies, breach notifications). Negotiates contract modifications, quotations, revisions, terms and conditions with suppliers.
  • Coordinates required approvals based on the document being negotiated (e.g. legal, client, funding). Responsible for the review and administration of long-term and/or blanket purchase contracts. Responsible for commercial contract issues, negotiations and/or administration of licensing agreements including renewal, new business, and consolidations.
  • Assists in the development of long and short-term objectives and strategies to ensure that category strategies and contracts are directed toward achieving company goals. Participates in the development of goals and budgets for area of responsibility.
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Develops financial models, including present mode of operation (PMO) and future mode of operation (FMO) comparisons to determine business case for deal. Exercises judgment in selecting methods and evaluation criteria for obtaining results or evaluating supplier responses.
  • Challenges externally and internally as needed to get the best outcome for AT&T. Works with all levels of leadership and is knowledgeable in assigned sourcing categories. Resolves a wide range of sourcing issues and applies this knowledge appropriately when evaluating new information technologies to meet AT&T’s requirements.
  • Stays current on market intelligence to assist in negotiation effectiveness. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry best practices, which may include regulatory considerations and company policies and procedures. May be required to recommend strategic technical alternatives for planning, transformation and evolution in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria.
