JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Product Quality Engineer (PQE) for Aerospace machining, rotating parts and compressor airfoils. This position will be responsible for reviewing and approving supplier First Article Inspection (FAI) results and driving supplier compliance to Source Substantiation Plans or design intent verification.
In this role, you will be the technical focal point to coordinate supplier quality activities with other internal cross-functional teams including the Sourcing, Materials Management, Manufacturing, and Engineering functions while interfacing with suppliers to drive adherence to quality procedures, product drawings and specification requirements. You will drive quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation. Perform supplier product audits, ensuring compliance, and driving improvement plans where needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering or Sourcing).

Responsibilities
  • Product Quality Engineer (PQE) will have a technical understanding of engineering drawings and Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning (GD&T).
  • PQE will have the ability to manage suppliers and/or quality projects related projects.
  • PQE will own supplier First Article Inspection (FAI) results and drive supplier compliance to Significant Process Substantiation (SPS) or design intent verification.
  • Provide supplier product release direction when part approval cycles are not complete while also being the internal quality focal for those parts.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality, Supplier Quality Operations and New Product Introduction / Management of Change (MOC) teams as required. This collaboration may include supplier onsite visitation.
  • Communication with direct colleagues and the business on the status of First Article Inspection (FAI) and Significant Process Substantiation (SPS).
  • Provide onsite support at suppliers, as needed (approximately 15% travel)
  • Collaboration with other Engineering, Quality, and Sourcing functions to ensure joint success
  • Perform supplier product audits, review results and drive closure of findings.
  • Leverages technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
