Job Details Level: Experienced Job Location: Cotswold - Charlotte, NC Salary Range: Undisclosed Lead Special Testing Technician POSITION SUMMARY: Assists Ophthalmologists and Optometrists by performing various tests reliably and according to HEC protocol, including Humphrey automated perimetry, fundus photography, Fluorescein and ICG Angiography and IOL Master biometry among others. Participates in training new employees, performs device maintenance and room stocking as well as completing all necessary electronic health record forms and other duties. II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Fluent use of NextGen EHR and EPM as it pertains to Special Testing, including finding testing orders, opening templates for testing and entering notes, verifying and modifying patient information, entering in patient charges, pulling up testing schedules, and accessing any information pertinent to patient visits. Verifies all patient information and performs test according to the physician’s request following HEC protocol. Performs and publishes Humphrey visual fields; Optic nerve, Macula and Anterior chamber OCTs; Fundus photography, including optic nerve photos; Fluorescein and ICG Angiography on both Optos and Zeiss fundus cameras; Corneal Topography; IOL Master and immersion A-scan biometry; Slit lamp photography; Endothelial cell count measurements and external photography to our image management software. Ensures correct exams were published and viewable in exam rooms. Performs venipuncture for Fluorescein and ICG Angiography. Creates, edits, deletes, modifies, prints patient data in Axis, our image management software as needed. Completes IOL calculations in Holladay IOL Consultant software. Perform all testing related duties by themselves at a branch office and be able stay 1st late at the Cotswold office. Responsible for cleaning and closing all testing rooms, archiving all devices and downloading external photos. Perform routine maintenance and calibration of all testing equipment as well as minor repairs and co-ordinates with manager if needed. Develops positive and effective relationships with patients and coworkers. Performs administrative tasks which include responding to inquiries in messaging and voice mail systems. Answers phone, takes messages and relays to appropriate individuals. Performs stocking and maintenance functions. Maintains physical environment of testing rooms. Cleans and stocks rooms daily and maintains appropriate supply per par levels. Assists with ordering medical/office supplies. Creates weekly schedules for the testing department at all 7 offices. Creates and maintains testing protocols for all devices and procedures. Implements and adjusts the new employee training program for the department. Ensures skill retention and growth in current employees with training as needed. Supervises the training of new employees at the branch offices. Supervises the training of new employees at the Cotswold office. Assistance in training doctors and technicians on new equipment. Maintains an organized inventory of clinical equipment and oversees scheduled upkeep on equipment for safety and accuracy. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Advanced knowledge of eye anatomy as it pertains to testing. Pass Special Testing level 2 protocol practical and written tests. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Ophthalmic Technician preferred. Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred. Previous testing related experience preferred. Certified Retinal Angiographer and Certified Ophthalmic Assistant. At least two years in a management or lead tech role.
