Description:

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Proven experience as an SQL Database Developer or in a similar role
  • Experience with NoSQL databases
  • Familiar with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimisation techniques Familiar with Robotic interfaces (Digital Data)
  • Experience in SQL, ADF and Azure Analysis Services
  • Experience with one or more of the following: data processing automation, data quality, data warehousing, data governance, business intelligence, data visualisation, data privacy
  • Experience designing, coding, testing, and correcting complex SQL models and scripts
  • Able to work autonomously and with others
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing small technical teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Certifications in relevant database technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate)
  • Experience with SQL, ETL, data modelling and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, C#, Scala)
  • Proficient in SQL programming and database management
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts and data modelling
  • Knowledge of data analysis, data modelling and quality assurance techniques
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Familiarity with database security and compliance standards
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Java, Python) for scripting and automation
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of 2 to 3 data warehouse developers, providing technical guidance and support in their daily work.
  • Ensure team deliverables align with business goals, maintaining high standards of quality and performance.
  • Coordinate workload, prioritize tasks, and manage timelines for your team to ensure successful project completion.
  • Develop, test and document complex pipelines from a design specification into the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Implement new Facts and Dimensions within the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Design and implement database structures to meet application requirements.
  • Develop, test, and deploy SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Optimise and tune SQL queries for performance.
  • Administer and maintain database systems.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with best practices.
  • Ensure that agreed standards and tools are utilised to achieve well-engineered outcomes.
  • Assist with troubleshooting data issues, performance issues, validating result sets, recommending, and implementing process improvements.
  • Create and maintain data models to represent business processes and information requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and design appropriate models.
  • Determine and implement the security model based on privacy requirements, confirm safeguards are followed, address data quality issues, and evolve governance processes within allocated areas of ownership.
  • Participate in reviews of work to ensure developments are standardised, reliable, and maintainable.
  • Document database design, configuration, and maintenance procedures.
  • Create and maintain documentation for database schemas, data dictionaries, and related processes.
  • Work closely with software developers, system architects, and other teams to integrate database solutions into applications.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide expertise on database-related aspects.
  • Developing an effective working relationship with members of the wider IT teams, ensuring efficient support of business requirements.
  • Collaborate with your team members to ensure efficient execution of database solutions and adherence to project timelines.
