Position Summary: The Lead SUD Counselor works under the direction of program leadership and provides direct client service and mentoring, modeling, coaching and education to LADCs within the RMHC Substance Use Disorders programs, supporting a high-quality client experience. Duties/Responsibilities: Assists with day-to-day operation of all Range Mental Health Center’s substance use disorders services. Assist Director, Manager and Supervisor with grant applications, contracts, and budgets for all substance use disorders services. Participates as needed in counseling and treatment services performing the following essential functions: Provide direct SUD services to inpatient and outpatient individuals using group therapy, individual therapy, lectures, and other approved methods. Develop individualized treatment plans with assigned people. Document appropriate services via preparation of discharge summaries, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant means for each assigned person in the electronic health record (CREDIBLE) Coordinate individual involvement with clergy, probation, and other outside agencies/services when appropriate. Represents the Range Mental Health Center and assumes other functions and duties as assigned by the Director. Participates in Range Treatment Center multidisciplinary case staff meetings. Help promote positive interactions with staff from other agencies, the community, and within the Range Mental Health Center Participate in public speaking engagements as directed / assigned. Represent the Range Treatment Center and assume other functions and duties as assigned by the Director of RTC. Act as a liaison to other Range Mental Health Center programs with regards to SUD services and illnesses Respond to inquiries regarding SUD services either via phone, writing, or in person. Provide coaching, develop and leadership to staff. Complete timecard approval and other supervisory tasks Facilitate and schedule coverage for LADCs when there is time off or other gaps in the schedule. Supervises counselors and helps with decision making for SUD services. Assist with scheduling and administrative duties as needed. Must comply with all required federal and state guidelines in accordance with the Department of Labor, Department of Human Services, and Department of Health Other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: Ability to assist individuals by identifying, developing, and facilitating strengths while identifying and addressing weaknesses. Ability to make simple, moderate, and complex decisions necessary both to develop programming and drive the improvement of the program’s professional services. Ability to assist employees and provide constructive feedback. Ability to formulate and prepare professional quality assessments, individual treatment plans, treatment summaries, progress notes, and other required correspondence or records in a timely fashion. Ability to conduct public speaking engagements or training sessions in front of small, medium, and large groups. Acceptable social skills to deal with a wide variety of individuals and groups from varying cultural and demographic groups; including but not limited to clients, politicians, community members, professional colleagues, etc. Must have knowledge of 12 step program and treatment theory. Assertiveness sufficient to complete positions essential functions Ability to attend to nonverbal cues from a client in the therapy setting. Ability to maintain confidentiality of interaction with clients in the treatment setting and other relevant confidential information. Ability to handle sensitive situations in a calm, professional manner. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks with sufficient flexibility to meet demands in a fluid and changing environment. Ability to operate accurately a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Ability to facilitate group interactions between people that are directed at therapeutic goals. Ability to handle significant daily stress. Ability to read, write, and speak the English language. Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement to this position Education and Experience: Licensed by the State of Minnesota to provide substance use disorder services. Two years freedom from substance use problems Three (3) years of work experience in the field of substance use disorders. Philosophical approach consistent with Range Mental Health Center’s mission Pass a Department of Human Services background check. Meet minimum training requirements of training under the Minnesota Department of Human Services and the Minnesota Department of Health. CPR / First Aid certification required. Current Minnesota driver’s license with acceptable driving record Physical Requirements: Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Ability to climb stairs. Ability to operate keyboard and mouse. Sufficient vision to utilize a computer monitor, to inspect and monitor the physical outlay or each program, to monitor individual’s behavior and / or body language, and to inspect luggage, clothing, or packages. Sufficient hearing acuity to accurately record or respond to another party both in person, on the phone, and in a group setting. Maintain an acceptable level of cleanliness and physical appearance. Ability to verbally communicate English in a manner that is sufficiently clear to be easily understood. Eighteen (18) years of age or older Must be able to maintain a Minnesota driver's license and auto insurance EOE/AA
