Description
SmithCo is seeking a motivated and dependable Department Lead/Supervisor to join our team for our evening shift working 3:30pm – 3:30am Mondays through Thursdays. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and excellent communication skills. This individual must be adaptable to changing environments, committed to safety, and capable of effectively leading and coaching a team to meet production goals and quality standards. Key Responsibilities * Provide daily direction to team members and collaborates with other departments to establish priorities and ensure efficient workflow. * Ensure all processes and safety protocols are followed consistently. * Assist with training new employees, including planning, assigning, and directing work. * Evaluate team performance; provide feedback, coaching, recognition, and corrective action as needed. * Address employee concerns and resolve problems in a timely and professional manner. * Orient new team members to department procedures and expectations. * Inspect work to verify quality standards in blasting, prepping, painting, and welding. * Work alongside team members to blast, prep, paint, and weld in order to complete jobs and provide hands-on training. * Operate cranes, forklifts, and other equipment to move materials and equipment safely. * Maintain a clean and organized work area; perform housekeeping duties as required. * Lead the team in a positive and productive manner. * Ensure schedules and production expectations are met. * Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Qualifications * Associate’s Degree (AA or AS) from a two-year college or technical school, OR six months to one year of related experience and/or training, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Proficiency with computer systems, including Industrios and email. * Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, documents, weld symbols, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs). * Mechanically inclined with the ability to accurately read a tape measure. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
