The Lead Veterans Sober Living Technician (Lead Tech) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the sober living home while supervising and supporting the Technician staff team. This position ensures that the program environment remains structured, recovery-focused, and consistent with organizational values. The Lead Tech acts as both a role model and supervisor: providing direct support to clients, mentoring and training staff, coordinating shift coverage, and serving as the primary point of accountability for the Technician team. This role requires the ability to balance administrative duties, crisis management, and hands-on support with clients — most of whom are military veterans. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership skills with a deep understanding of veteran culture, trauma-informed care, and the recovery process. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Staff Oversight Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to Technician staff across all shifts. Conduct regular check-ins, assign shift duties, and ensure staff accountability. Train new Technicians on policies, procedures, documentation standards, and veteran-sensitive practices. Act as the first escalation point for staff concerns or incidents during shifts. Coordinate shift coverage and manage scheduling adjustments as needed. Lead staff debriefings and contribute to case reviews and program meetings. Client Supervision & Support Support Technician staff in maintaining visual and verbal supervision of clients in all settings. Serve as a role model of accountability, discipline, and professionalism to both staff and clients. Provide direct intervention for escalated client issues, crises, or conflicts, using de-escalation and trauma-informed approaches. Ensure consistent enforcement of house rules and program expectations across all shifts. Monitoring & Compliance Oversee completion and accuracy of client documentation, including logs, incident reports, and compliance records. Ensure chain of custody is followed for all testing procedures and that searches/inspections are properly documented. Monitor adherence to curfews, visitor policies, and behavioral standards; intervene directly when serious violations occur. Facility & Operations Management Oversee staff enforcement of facility cleanliness, order, and property oversight. Ensure facility checks, room inspections, and household inventories are performed consistently. Report major maintenance or safety issues to facilities management promptly. Transportation & Community Engagement Ensure Technician staff complete safe and timely client transport duties. Provide oversight of accountability during community activities, appointments, and group outings. Step in to provide transport coverage when necessary. Documentation & Communication Review, edit, and approve shift reports, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness. Compile incident reports for critical events and ensure timely submission to program leadership. Serve as the communication link between Technician staff, clinical staff, and program supervisors. Relay urgent updates or emergencies directly to supervisory or clinical leadership. Disclaimer This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be modified by the organization as needed to meet program and client needs. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities.
