JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
AAM is searching for a Lead System Integration Calibration Engineer to join our team. This position will be based out of our Advanced Technology Development Center in Detroit, MI.
As a Lead System Integration Calibration Engineer, you will lead the strategic direction, integration, calibration, testing, and validation of complex automotive control systems. You will also drive cross-disciplinary development efforts from concept to production, delivering robust, validated systems aligned with customer requirements and product strategy.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Lead product development projects focused on system integration and calibration for automotive control systems, while ensuring compliance with organizational standards and processes.
- Work with customer throughout the development cycle to collect requirements, secure approvals, and ensure alignment to production standards.
- Develop, complete, and validate system and vehicle test procedures, including bench, dyno, and in-vehicle testing activities.
- Analyze vehicle and bench test data; perform root cause analysis and refine calibration parameters to achieve performance targets.
- Develop algorithms to control device systems and propose design improvements based on data analysis and test results.
- Establish reusable, scalable test systems and manage the seamless rollout of calibration and testing content.

- Deliver technical presentations and contribute to technical reviews, strategy development, and multi-functional collaboration.
- Lead the establishment of product characteristics, creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs), and execution of validation plans.
- Knowledge of auto code generation and embedded C , along with ASPICE and ISO26262.
- Proficiency in requirements management, test management, and tools like DOORS, RTC, RQM, PLM.
- Experience in developing C, CAPL, Matlab, and Python scripting for bench or vehicle testing.
- Serve as the authority in data acquisition tools, and network management and calibration tools such as INCA, CANape and CANoe.
- Expert in either device controls or Vehicle Dynamics and working knowledge of vehicle control units, Electrical architecture, and communication protocols.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in control systems integration, calibration development, and validation.
- 5+ years of experience using MATLAB/ Simulink, Vector tools (CANape, CANoe, INCA, etc).
- 3+ years of experience applying automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay) within control units and electrical architectures.
- 3+ years of working within ASPICE and/or ISO 26262 Functional Safety standards.
