WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

You’ll need a HND or degree in electrical engineering or have equivalent experience. We’re looking for evidence showing knowledge & experience of Protection and Control system design activities, Protection relay settings, commissioning new equipment onto a transmission system and writing technical documentation. You can share knowledge and expertise for coaching and mentoring. You can learn and apply new processes and procedures. You’ll have a driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK and the flexibility to travel when necessary.
The role will be a mixture of home and office working and we have hubs at Leeds, Warwick, Bristol & West Weybridge.

Responsibilities

You’ll become involved in the delivery of a wide range of Protection and Control projects from single asset replacements to new build substations. You’ll be challenged with a variety of existing and new technologies and participate in the upgrade of our electricity transmission system to meet our Net Zero commitments.
We’re looking for you to specify, assess & assure equipment for use on the electricity transmission system. Stage by stage you’ll confirm designs from suppliers and contractors, making sure they comply to National Grid standards and thus ensuring a secure, reliable electricity supply with which to drive green energy forward.
You’ll join a technical team who support Protection and Control of the electricity transmission system across England and Wales throughout the entire project timeframe including development, tendering, delivery and operation. You’ll support both delivery and operational teams with the design, development and commissioning of Protection and Control systems including visiting suppliers for Factory Acceptance Testing, assuring designs and reviewing & calculating relay settings. You’ll share your knowledge and expertise delivering training to junior team members, mentoring and supporting the wider team
