Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all freight payments and GL coding for small parcel and LTL freight charges, including but not limited to aging invoices.
  • Carrier Management: own relationships with carriers and third-party logistics providers, and work with them to optimize BlackHawk freight expense.
  • Ability to onboard and manage transportation carriers, negotiate rates, and decline and approve invoices.
  • Develop processes to monitor that shipments from suppliers, and those originating from BHID facilities have been properly executed (i.e. low-cost carrier selected, proper service used, entered properly to allow backend automation to function)
  • Monitor freight expenses to find deviations from optimum and devise countermeasures to help avoid future suboptimal shipments.
  • Analyze data to identify fright trends and communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including management, and prepare reports on transportation performance.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to address and resolve transportation-related issues, collaborating with logistics, planning, customer service, and other relevant departments.
  • Recommend and implement cost-saving strategies and reduce overall transportation expenses.
  • Maintain shipping instructions to facilitate proper execution of shipments from suppliers and internally from BHID warehouses
  • Analyze shipping and delivery data, identify trends, and pinpoint bottlenecks within transportation and logistics operations. Compile and summarize freight reports, track performance against KPIs, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform audits on freight invoices to ensure charges are accurate and saving opportunities are not being missed
  • Maintain records of all BHID carrier pricing and contract rates
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant technologies.
  • Investigate and resolve all claim issues for inbound and outbound shipments
  • Keep accurate documentation relating to all freight related processes
  • Supervising and managing a team of transportation and providing training and guidance to staff on safety procedures and company policies.
