JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is a highly skilled professional responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and the delivery of high-quality diagnostic imaging services. As a lead sonographer, you will play a vital role in patient care by performing a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including routine, pelvic, and transvaginal scans for OB/GYN patients. In addition, you may provide multi-specialty imaging services such as vascular and small parts studies, in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice, as well as the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
This leadership role requires a minimum of three years of experience in these specialties, as well as the ability to guide and mentor less experienced team members. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care while fostering a supportive and collaborative team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is desirable.
  • Florida driver’s license
  • Personal automobile
  • Fluent in speaking English (Spanish preferred)
  • Active ARDMS, CPR, OSHA certification - (RDMS, RVT, RDCS, CCI)
  • 3 Year or more OB/GYN experience (REQUIRED)
  • Vascular and General / Abdomen experience (Preferred)
  • Echocardiogram experience (Preferred)
  • Small Parts (Breast/Thyroid/Scrotum) Experience - (Preferred)
  • CPR/BLS Certification (REQUIRED)

Responsibilities
  • Reviews patient history and physician’s orders.
  • Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure patient’s understanding and cooperation.
  • Takes on call shift responsibilities as required by the department.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures if clinically appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Selects appropriate imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Strong communication skills required, ability to communicate effectively with ordering physicians, other medical professionals, and administrative staff.
