Job Title Lead Usability Designer Job Description Your role: Be part of a journey to grow Experience Design in Philips CT business, where you can demonstrate and practice User-centered design, fundamentally improve Usability design quality across our organization. This will enable us to deliver better cares for more people through CT products and solutions. Lead multiple programs – functional leadership: Manage Usability backlog, priorities and planning across programs. Customer focus: Initiating and leading usability testing/measurement approach on project level. Design acumen: Prioritize design and communicate short-term cross-functional strategy that pushes the envelope on product level with deep understanding of the business context and domain knowledge. Business impact: Able to influence, inspire, and engage different stakeholders and customers on product level. Best practices and improvements: SME for the Usability Process, ensure continuous process improvement satisfying standard and regulatory updates, across markets (FDA, IEC, NMPA). Team development: mentor, onboard or assist junior designers, and advocate across functions on usability expertise, best practices. Team up: Act as a mentor and guide for Usability members, while leading by examples, influence cross-functional collaboration, and fostering innovation in project and team dynamics. Partner with cross-functional team on the creation of an excellent user- and patient experience for CT products and ensure safe - effective use. Conduct various Usability activities throughout programs (not limited to): user researches (to understand user needs, workflows), Usability studies (formative, summative), documentation (task analysis, Usability FMEA, study protocol/report for regulatory submission). This position might require 10-15% travel annually. To succeed in this role, At least 7 years of progressive experience as a Usability (Human Factor) specialist in Medical Devices industry. Knowledge of and experience in conducting (medical) usability engineering activities: Requirements management, including usability and design risk management (like Usability FMEA) Human research methodologies; qualitative and qualitative research Design, manage and conduct Usability studies (formative, summative) Experienced with usability standards specific to medical devices (IEC 62366, FDA guidance, EU-MDR, and NMPA). And you understand risk management principles (e.g., ISO 14971) and their application to medical device usability. Academic background in industrial design, product design, or cognitive psychology with a focus on Human-Computer Interaction or Human Factors. You have strong problem-solving, effective communication skills and (senior) stakeholder management You can translate user insights into actionable design recommendations. Project management skills (planning, monitoring, escalation, etc.) How we work together We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
