Description

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE OF THE LEAD WELDING ENGINEER

  • Working knowledge of the main welding processes typically used for structural and piping applications within heavy engineering environments.
  • Be familiar with national and international codes and specifications required within a heavy engineering environment.
  • Have or be able to achieve Responsible Welding Co-Ordinator (RWC) accreditation.
  • Demonstrable experience within a highly regulated industry such as ship building, ship repair, Oil and Gas or Nuclear industries.
  • Robotic, automatic and mechanised welding process familiarity beneficial.
  • You will hold health and safety to the highest regard and focused on ensuring delivery on cost and quality targets.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE LEAD WELDING ENGINEER

  • Degree or equivalent in Welding Engineering or relevant/associated discipline
  • IIW/IWF European Welding Technologist (EWT) minimum, ideally European Welding Engineer (EWE)
  • You will be a registered as Incorporated Engineer (IEng) minimum, ideally Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the UK Engineering Council

THE ROLE

As a Lead Welding Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will propose, provide, manage, and deliver Welding Engineering solutions and support to ongoing and new projects within our Marine Engineering & Systems, Rosyth.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide practical support on the shop floor with ongoing work scopes and help ensure uninterrupted production. You will be the subject matter expert for all related project deliverables and ensure welding engineering key performance indicators are being met.

  • Use your knowledge and expertise to assess and understand technical problems and generate solutions using experimental trials and process development.
  • Plan, organise and launch Welding Engineering Projects ensuring that time, cost, quality, and safety targets are set and delivered on time.
  • Qualify welding procedures, producing detailed records of all welding parameters including welding procedure qualification (WPQ), welding procedure specification (WPS) and welder qualification documentation (WQ) to ensure successful results.
  • Mentor colleagues within the Welding Engineering Team fostering innovative thinking and ensuring they are empowered to deliver.
  • Ensure that safe working practices and the working environment is in accordance with the Company Policy

This role is full time, 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday and is based at our Rosyth Dockyard, Fife site.
