Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Thiess are seeking Field Service Mechanics and Electricians to support the needs of our client’s requiring maintenance of their fleets, as well as Thiess sites and based in the Hunter region. With a variety of rosters and competitive salaries available to best suit your family and lifestyle.
Successful applicants will be able to work in a variety of industries depending on experience and willingness to rotate through different work environments.

In these roles, you will:

  • Lead and supervise your team working on heavy earthmoving equipment (Cat, Liebherr)
  • Coordinate and oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities in the field
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with Thiess policies and procedures
  • Provide hands-on support and mentoring to maintenance personnel
  • Liaise with production and planning departments to prioritise work and minimise equipment downtime
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage and organise parts, inventory from the warehouse and OEM in both planed and unplanned maintenance.
  • Hold a high regard for house keeping and cleanliness in your work area
  • Quality of work to be carried out in a timely manner

To be successful in this role you are required to have:

  • G1,G8,G9 formerly (S1,S2,S3) and G2 supervising certificates and experience in supervising maintenance activities on an operational mine
  • Trade-qualified Diesel Fitter or equivalent heavy vehicle mechanic qualification
  • Proven experience in a leading hand or senior field maintenance role within a mining or heavy industry environment
  • Strong working knowledge of large-scale mining equipment and field maintenance practices
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills
  • High level of commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Current driver’s licence and ability to work a rotating roster
  • Post trade operational mine site experience
  • High risk work license EWP, Dogging, C6 desirabl
