WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in metal fabrication, with proven leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of welding and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and technical drawings.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Current driver’s licence, white card (forklift licence advantageous).
    Please note: Only candidates currently based in Sydney (NSW) and holding a valid permanent or temporary visa will be considered. This is a mandatory requirement.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Weldingmen is seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand - Metal Fabricator to join our team in Banksmeadow, NSW. In this hands-on leadership role, you will supervise day-to-day workshop operations, provide guidance to our fabricators, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled fabricator ready to step into a leadership position, combining technical expertise with strong people management skills. No installation on the site is required.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Lead and coordinate daily workshop activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to specification.
  • Working on the tools, including fabricating and welding.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support a team of fabricators, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and plans, providing clear instructions to the team.
  • Perform quality control checks to maintain Weldingmen’s high standards.
  • Monitoring consumables
  • Liaise with project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure smooth workflow and material availability.
  • Enforce WHS policies and procedures, ensuring safe work practices at all times.
  • Act as the first point of contact for problem-solving and escalation on the workshop floor.
