Leading hand quarry operator
Lead, Operate and Improve
We are seeking a Leading Hand Quarry Operator at our Byford Quarry to support the daily quarry extraction operations. This hands-on role is ideal for a skilled operator with leadership potential who is eager to take on more responsibility and grow within the company.
Working closely with the Quarry Manager and Supervisory team, you will play a key role in ensuring efficient and safe operations, maintaining compliance, and mentoring your team.

What you’ll be doing:

• Support day-to-day quarry operations, ensuring production and safety targets are met
• Operate a variety of mobile plant equipment (loaders, haul trucks, excavators, etc.)
• Assist in training and mentoring quarry team members
• Monitor equipment conditions and assist in coordinating maintenance activities
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Promote a safe, efficient, and team-focused work culture
• Work collaboratively with site leadership and other teams to meet operational goals

About you:

• Experience in quarrying, mining, or a similar heavy industry (leadership experience a plus)
• Competency in operating heavy machinery used in extraction operations
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and risk management
• A proactive and team-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
• Ability to multi-task and make effective decisions under pressure
• Eager to learn and take on new challenges in a supportive environment
