NGĀ PUKENGA E RAPU NEI MĀTOU | WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • We are looking for a motivated leader with strong technical expertise and a commitment to safety. You will bring:
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in traction work.
  • Experience supervising a team and providing on-the-job training.
  • A strong understanding of overhead traction equipment and infrastructure standards.
  • Ability to work at heights and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • A current EWRB practising licence and Class 1 driver’s licence (Class 2 desirable).
  • Certifications in pole top rescue, first aid, and CPR.
  • Computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A proactive approach to safety and the ability to lead by example.

Responsibilities

As a Leading Hand Traction Line Mechanic, you will play a key role in leading the Traction Line Mechanic team, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Overhead Traction system.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Allocating daily tasks and ensuring work is completed to KiwiRail’s standards.
  • Performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs on overhead traction assets.
  • Responding to breakdowns and restoring services quickly and safely.
  • Conducting patrols, isolations, and reporting on any safety concerns.
  • Leading and mentoring your team while fostering a strong safety culture.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with all safety procedures.

This role may require some travel and overnight stays as part of our commitment to maintaining a reliable rail network across the country.
