SKATE INSTRUCTOR

Trico Centre is seeking enthusiastic and professional Skate Instructors for our Learn to Skate program. Our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality skate instruction to participants of all ages, including parent/tot, preschool, child/youth, and teen/adult programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching ‘learn to skate’ basics to children and youth (ages 3-12).
  • Preferred certifications: CanSkate, Power Skate, NCCP, Hockey Canada Coaching, Ringette Canada Coaching.
  • Demonstrated experience in program delivery.
  • Current Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certification.
  • Trico Centre will initiate a comprehensive criminal background check for all new hires 18 years and older. A previous check will be accepted provided it is dated within the past 6 months.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts.

Responsibilities

Provide Safe and Fun Instruction: Create and maintain a safe learning environment for all participants. Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons.
Supervision and Safety: Constantly supervise participants to ensure their safety. Administer first aid as required and follow safety protocols.
Lesson Planning and Delivery: Develop lesson plans that cater to various skill levels and age groups. Use a variety of teaching methods (verbal, non-verbal, and modeling) to communicate effectively.
Participant Engagement: Encourage maximum participation through positive reinforcement. Maintain a fun and professional demeanor.
Progress Tracking: Monitor and assess the progress of participants. Adjust instruction to meet individual needs and provide report card feedback.
Communication: Communicate progress and other relevant information to parents or guardians. Clearly convey program and facility information to participants and their families.
Customer Service: Deliver excellent customer service and address any concerns promptly. Build positive relationships with participants and their families.
Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with other instructors, supervisors, and facility staff. Attend and contribute to staff meetings and training sessions.
Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of participant attendance and progress. Report any incidents or issues to the appropriate supervisor.
Facility Maintenance: Ensure equipment is used correctly and maintained properly. Help with the set-up and take-down of equipment as needed.
Wage: $18-$28 (part-time hourly)
