Description

Job Introduction
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and conscientious individual to join us at an exciting time. We are just about to start delivery of a new programme called Connect to Work, which is being funded by the Department for Work and Pensions, but delivered by the council. Connect to Work is about providing intensive support to people with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions or those who face other disadvantages, to help them move into, or remain in, employment.
This role is customer facing, and you will likely be the first point of contact for many of the people looking to take part in the Connect to Work programme, through dealing with phone calls, referral forms, emails and paperwork. You need to be a skilled communicator, both over the phone, in-person and in writing, so that you can take and respond to referrals, but also provide basic information about the programme and be sensitive to the needs of customers who may face challenges with communication.
We use a range of computer systems to support the service, and you will need to be a confident computer user who can learn and adapt to our systems quickly. The programme involves the collection and processing of a lot of customer information, and you will need to be able to conduct data entry tasks quickly and efficiently with great accuracy and minimal errors. You will of course need to treat customer data with the utmost care and confidentiality and comply with the council’s policies and procedures around data security and information governance at all times.
This is an exciting time to join the team, as Connect to Work is totally new, so you will be joining at the very beginning and will support the development of the programme and its associated processes, suggest ways things could be improved, and be involved in something that will really make a difference for hundreds of local people each year.
This role offers a real mix of tasks, from dealing with customers, to handling data, responding to enquiries, recording expenditure and handling petty cash. No two days will be the same and it will be busy and varied. We need someone who will thrive in a busy office environment who is calm and at ease with balancing many tasks with varying priorities at any one time.
If you think this sounds like a job you would love and you’re ready to work hard to help make Connect to Work a success for local people, then we would really like to hear from you. Experience in similar kinds of roles is an advantage, but not essential.
For an informal chat about the role, please call Karen Harrison or Rachel Horth on 01952 382888.
