Description

The Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy at High Point University (FWSOP) is seeking a Learning Analytics and Assessment Specialist. This position reports to the Assistant / Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and works closely with the Assessment Team, which includes the Assistant / Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Director of Programmatic Assessment, the FWSOP Assessment Committee. The assessment program is a critical component that facilitates the FWSOP’s continuous improvement in the quality, content, and assessment procedures so the optimal curriculum is delivered to our students, the appropriate content is taught and our programmatic outcome are met. An additional goal is to ensure that information required for ongoing accreditation by our accrediting bodies, ACPE and SACSCOC, is documented and readily available to appropriate parties.
The Learning Analytics Specialist will support programmatic efforts to improve teaching effectiveness, student learning, and curriculum design through the strategic use of educational data. This role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data related to student learning outcomes, course and curriculum effectiveness, and other key academic metrics. The specialist will collaborate with faculty, academic leaders, and the FWSOP assessment and curriculum committees to generate actionable insights, support accreditation processes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. This role is a full-time, on-campus position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Learning Analytics, Education, Data Science, Social Science, or related field
  • Strong understanding of educational assessment practices and student learning outcomes
  • Experience in data analysis and visualization with proficiency in tools such as SPSS, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, R, or Python
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis (descriptive, regression)
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel with ability to expand skills as needed
  • Experience with data cleaning, database management, and dashboard/report development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for delivering technical analysis in faculty-friendly formats
  • Project coordination skills and ability to manage timelines, stakeholders, and regular reporting cycles
  • Ability to work collaboratively across academic units and manage multiple projects simultaneously

PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience in higher education, especially in pharmacy or other healthcare professional programs
  • Familiarity with programmatic and/or institutional accreditation standards (e.g., ACPE, SACSCOC)
  • Familiarity with assessment tools, such as ExamSoft, CoreELMS, Blackboard, etc.
  • Experience working with educational data is strongly preferred
  • Experience with survey design and analysis methods and proficiency in at least one survey platform with ability to learn additional platforms
  • Experience supervising direct reports
  • Knowledge of CQI frameworks
  • Knowledge of FERPA, ethical use of student data, and data governance best practices
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Data Management & Systems Oversight:
  • Operate and maintain assessment platforms (e.g., ExamSoft, CORE ELMS, LMS data, survey tools) for longitudinal tracking of student performance and curricular effectiveness.
  • Design, configure, and adapt data flows to ensure data integrity through consistent data cleaning, validation, and normalization processes.
  • Ensure access to data by relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain and enhance databases and dashboards used for assessment, programmatic performance monitoring, and accreditation reporting.
  • Analytics, Reporting, & CQI:
  • Conduct statistical analyses (descriptive and inferential) to evaluate student performance, learning outcomes, and instructional effectiveness using tools like Excel, SPSS, R, Python, SQL, Tableau, or similar tools
  • Identify patterns and trends that inform decision-making around curriculum design, instructional methods, and student support.
  • Interpret findings, produce regular reports (e.g., weekly student performance or course insights, APPE readiness), and generate recommendations for curricular enhancement and student performance improvements.
  • Translate raw data into meaningful reports and visualizations for faculty, academic departments, and programmatic leadership.
  • Coordinate surveys, national exam tracking, and stakeholder feedback cycles to support CQI aligned with ACPE criteria.
  • Communication & Faculty Engagement:
  • Develop and manage clear, interpretable dashboards and reports for faculty, assessment and curriculum committees, and accreditation reviewers.
  • Deliver presentations to faculty and staff interpreting outcomes data, and integrating data into pedagogical practice improvements.
  • Provide training to and assist faculty in using student and course performance data to inform instructional or course improvements.
  • Accreditation and Compliance:
  • Ensure data and reporting meet ACPE requirements for documentation of curriculum effectiveness and student outcomes.
  • Support accreditation processes (ACPE, SACSCOC) by preparing evidence for self-study reports, site visits, and standards alignment.
  • Design and maintain assessment calendars and documentation repositories to fulfill accreditation standards.
  • Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI):
  • Collaborate with the Assessment Team to lead CQI cycles: identify issues, propose data-driven solutions, monitor implementation, and reassess effectiveness.
  • Facilitate feedback loops: gather stakeholder input, interpret results, and follow through with improvement actions.
  • Collaborate with assessment and curriculum committees to align learning analytics work with programmatic CQI goals.
  • Collaborate with the Experiential Education group in the FWSOP to identify strengths and weaknesses observed during experiential rotations and compile summary information about student performance in collaboration with the experiential department.
  • Keep abreast of best practices in learning analytics, educational assessment, and technological innovation.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to programmatic outcomes
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations for improving curriculum and instructional practices.
