New England Seafood International (NESI) was established in 1991 and is an importer and processor of premium fresh and frozen sustainable fish and seafood. NESI employs circa 850 people across three sites in the UK and imports a wide range of wild and farmed fish and shellfish from all around the world. L&D Coordinator
Title: L&D Coordinator
Reports to: Group L&D Manager

Shift pattern: Monday - Friday
Hours: 8am-5pm, 40 hours per week

The purpose of this role is to support the needs of individuals, teams and the business through ensuring the smooth co-ordination, delivery and administration of learning initiatives.
The Learning & Development Team
Our sites measure success via our SPQDC, the L&D team are responsible for:
Safety –Ensuring every employee is provided with the right knowledge to work safely within our sites. Delivering Health & Safety training as part of our induction programme and refreshing this at regular intervals. Developing SOPs and tracking training progress against these, working collaboratively with the Operations team and On-the-job-Mentors.
People – Delivering both classroom and on the job training, identifying any knowledge and skills gaps in conjunction with team managers, and providing the required training for employees to fully complete their roles. Delivering a best-in-class induction programme that brilliantly welcomes our new colleagues to NESI, supporting employee engagement and retention.
Quality – Ensuring every employee is provided with the right knowledge to produce safe and high-quality products. Collaborating with our Technical team to ensure training delivered complies with our customer standards, helping ensure we are audit ready every day.
Delivery –Ensuring that we set our colleagues up for success with appropriate training and guidance to work efficiently and meet service levels for our customers.
Cost –Co-ordinating external training, selecting learning initiatives and providers that drive ROI for the business. Ensuring we have the right skills in the right areas to optimise labour costs with the aim to reduce price per pack produced.
Role & Responsibilities

Operational

  • Deliver an informative and engaging Induction for all new joiners, maintaining Induction records for all colleagues.
  • Create and maintain mandatory training plans for the Chessington site and ensure these are effectively carried out and up to date.
  • Ensure all Operational personnel are trained to the required Health & Safety and Food Safety standards, as well as the SOPs defined for their respective job role.
  • Understand and scope Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) where required for defined activities, reviewing existing SOPs at the defined frequency to ensure best practice is maintained.
  • Ensure attendance meeting at T3 for days present on site by Learning & Development team, and provide updates against L&D activity for the site and performance against KPIs.
  • Support in both internal and external audits with the gathering and collation of any documentation requested.
  • Present and answer questions in an audit environment, be that internal or external.
  • Partner your identified stakeholders, up to and including T3 on a regular basis, supporting them with their team’s training plan.
  • Design and deliver a broad range of training packages, as identified through TNAs conducted with stakeholders.
  • Organise external Learning & Development interventions for Chessington colleagues, selecting best in class training providers.

Systems & Knowledge

  • Manage and maintain the integrity of the Training Matrix / Dayforce LMS for the site, ensuring compliance is upheld by all stakeholders.
  • Ensuring all training records are saved and maintained for site compliance.
  • Be responsible for upholding and developing your own operational and product knowledge as well as you own CPD.
  • Escalate any risk to compliance to L&D Manager/T4 at earliest opportunity.
  • Support in any ad-hoc Learning & Development projects as and when required.

What experiences, knowledge and capabilities do I need to demonstrate?

  • Ability to communicate upwards, downwards and sideways
  • Ability to manage stakeholder expectations
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Highly organised with planning and time management skills
  • Detail orientated
  • Target driven with high standards of delivery and consistency
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner to ensure all parties are fully engaged
  • Energised and self-motivated
  • Demonstrated ability to encourage and motivate others
  • Qualification in learning, education or training, or CIPD qualified (preferred), or willing to work towards this.
  • Experience working in FMCG or similar production environment (preferred)
