Reporting To: Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Starting: September/October 2025
Salary Range: $93,500 to $126,000 annually

SUMMARY

As a key member of the Human Resources team, the Learning and Development (L&D) HR Advisor supports the organization’s commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Reporting to the Sr. HR Business Partner (Sr. HRBP), the L&D Advisor is responsible for designing, facilitating, and evaluating training programs that enhance employee performance, leadership capacity, and organizational effectiveness.
This role requires strong instructional design capabilities, facilitation skills, communication excellence, and a demonstrated ability to leverage learning technologies. The Advisor will ensure that learning initiatives align with strategic priorities, foster employee engagement, and support a culture of inclusion and growth.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Education and Professional Certifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications in instructional design, adult education, or learning technology are assets.
  • CPHR or working toward designation is an asset.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in learning and development, training design, and facilitation.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, and training evaluation.
  • Experience with a range of training modalities (classroom, virtual, e-learning).
  • Proficiency with learning technologies and platforms (e.g., LMS, Microsoft 365, Articulate, Zoom).
  • Understanding of employment legislation, equity frameworks, and HR practices.
  • Experience working in unionized environments is an asset.

Responsibilities

Program Development & Facilitation

  • Design, develop, and deliver training programs across various content areas, including onboarding, compliance, leadership development, and skills training.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual learning sessions using adult learning principles and engaging instructional strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. HRBP and departmental leaders to ensure training meets organizational and workforce needs.
  • Incorporate inclusive and accessible practices into all learning content and delivery methods.

Technology & Evaluation

  • Leverage learning management systems (LMS), e-learning tools, and other digital platforms to create and deliver training.
  • Track and report on training participation, feedback, and effectiveness metrics to measure impact and inform continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and update content libraries, resources, and training calendars.

Needs Assessment & Consultation

  • Conduct training needs assessments and gap analyses in collaboration with business units.
  • Recommend and implement learning solutions based on data and organizational priorities.
  • Stay current with industry best practices in learning and development, instructional design, and digital learning.

HR Collaboration & Organizational Support

  • Support broader HR initiatives, including performance development, succession planning, employee engagement, and culture.
  • Provide learning-related expertise on cross-functional HR projects.
  • Ensure alignment of learning programs with relevant legislation, internal policies, and diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Assist with coordinating external education for staff.
