Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) was Australia’s first dedicated paediatric research facility and is now one of the world’s most highly regarded independent medical research organisations. Our research focuses on the four key areas impacting children’s health: cancer, genomics and genetic diseases, neurobiology, and embryology.
We are looking for a highly skilled and passionate Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist to join the People Team at CMRI. This role will focus on identifying and implementing effective learning and development initiatives to drive capability growth for both individuals and teams across the institute. The L&D Specialist will work closely with leaders, teams, and other stakeholders to enhance professional development, manage compliance learning and support leadership and career development aligned with CMRI’s strategic goals.
WORK WITH A TEAM OF DEDICATED PROFESSIONALS
We are looking for a L&D Specialist to join our team to focus on the following areas:
- E-Learning Management: Oversee and deliver CMRI’s e-learning programs, with a focus on implementing the new LMS, Go1. Ensure the content is relevant, effective, and aligned with best practice learning principles, while being easily accessible and customised to meet stakeholder needs.
- Compliance Learning: Manage the selection, design and delivery of e-learning modules focused on compliance and safety, ensuring they are up to date, aligned with legal requirements, and easily accessible for stakeholder needs.
- New Hire Induction: Design and implement a comprehensive onboarding program, overseeing its ongoing management to ensure employees receive relevant and timely learning opportunities and positive experiences during their first six months of employment.
- Sourcing Learning Opportunities: Identify and source development opportunities leveraging Go1 to enhance individual and team capabilities.
- Leadership Development: Identify, develop and promote leadership development opportunities, managing CMRI’s leadership development programs to support employee growth and retention.
- Performance Management Support: Assist in supporting the performance management program and system, ensuring that development plans are aligned with individual performance goals and CMRI objectives.
- Team Development: Work closely with managers to assess and identify professional development needs for their teams, ensuring that the appropriate learning interventions are designed and implemented.
- Facilitation & Training Delivery: Design and deliver small group training sessions and workshops that engage and equip employees with the necessary skills for their roles as required.
- Learning Calendar Management: Maintain and update a learning and development calendar, ensuring all initiatives and programs are scheduled and communicated in a timely manner.
- Generalist Support: Provide support to other People programs and activities when requested, ensuring a collaborative approach to people development across the institute.
You are a skilled Learning and Development specialist with a strong passion for fostering meaningful employee growth and experiences and you bring the following skills and experience to the table. We are looking for someone to join us with the following skills and experience:
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in identifying and implementing learning and development interventions to drive capability growth. Experience working in a scientific or University environment as a desired (but not essential) criteria.
- Learning Systems: Experience managing Learning Management Systems (LMS), including administration tasks such as training management, e-learning suite enrolments, and completion reporting.
- Program Management: Proven experience in sourcing, managing, and delivering learning and development initiatives.
- Facilitation Skills: Comfortable leading small group training sessions and workshops.
- Technology Enthusiast: A keen interest in using technology to enhance productivity and continuous improvement in learning processes.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate deliverables within a part-time work schedule (3 days per week).
- Qualification: A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
