Description

The European Solar Academy, led by InnoEnergy, is driving one of Europe’s most important missions: building the skilled workforce that will power our solar future. We bring together the best in training, industry, and policy to ensure skills match market needs, scale world-class learning across the solar value chain, and close critical gaps with content designed for real-world impact.
We are looking for a leader who can supercharge this mission — accelerating growth, expanding reach, and delivering measurable results. This is a fixed-term role, fully dedicated to the Academy, with a mandate to make a lasting impact before the project’s conclusion on 27 February 2027.
The successful contract will be employed up until the end of February, 2027 and leave will be included. There are certain other regional benefits depending on where the candidate is based.
If you want your work to directly shape Europe’s clean energy transition, this is where you make it happen.
Department: Product Development
Reports To: Senior Learning & Development Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

We’re looking for a strategic and practical Learning Architect to design high-impact, skills-based training programs for the clean tech workforce of the future. You’ll work at the intersection of industry needs and learning design—translating job roles and competency frameworks into engaging, modular learning experiences that help people build the skills they actually need on the job.
In this role, you will define learning journeys, shape content structures, and design assessment strategies that enable real-world application, not just knowledge retention. You’ll partner with subject matter experts, vendors, and technologists to ensure that every program is scalable, high quality, and focused on performance outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, Education, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design or learning architecture, ideally in professional or vocational education.
  • Deep understanding of how to design training aligned to job roles, competencies, and performance expectations.
  • Experience designing scenario-based, active learning experiences (not just content delivery).
  • Comfort working in fast-paced, multi-vendor environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Needs Analysis and Learning Design

  • Conduct learning needs analyses based on job profiles, skills frameworks, and business requirements.
  • Interview Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to determine what learners need to do to be successful in their job role.
  • Design modular learning pathways that are sequenced, role-based, and aligned to clearly defined learning outcomes.
  • Define delivery modality strategies (e-learning, blended, face-to-face) appropriate to learning outcomes and resource constraints.
  • Ensure each course is designed to answer the question: What should the learner be able to do after this training? How will learner behavior change?

Champion Engaging, Performance-Focused Course Design

  • Lead the creation of course blueprints, storyboards, and assessment strategies that emphasize action, decision-making, and real-world relevance.
  • Apply evidence-based learning design methods such as backward design and scenario-based learning.
  • Ensure delivery formats (e-learning, blended, face-to-face) are matched to learning goals and audience needs.

Set and Uphold Quality Standards

  • Define and maintain design standards, templates, and review processes to ensure consistency across internal and vendor-built content.
  • Review course materials for instructional effectiveness, accessibility, platform compatibility (SCORM/xAPI), and engagement.
  • Work with learning technologists to ensure the delivery of a seamless learner experience.

Collaborate Across Functions and Projects

  • Work cross-functionally with Skills Analysts, Product Managers, and Instructional Designers to align training to workforce development goals.
  • Advise vendors and SMEs on how to apply learning architecture and meet content requirements.
  • Support alignment with certifications, credentials, and clean tech industry standards.
