Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching and Curriculum Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the school's adopted curriculum, modelling best practice for colleagues across the school.
  • Support the development, implementation, and review of curriculum plans across assigned subject areas or phases, ensuring coherence, progression, and alignment with internal and external standards (e.g., IGCSE, A-Level, MOE, IB, or equivalent).
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, including practical investigations, ICT, and real-world applications to enhance learning and build conceptual understanding.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners, including high achievers, EAL students, and those requiring additional support.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and resilience in learning.

Coordination and Staff Support

  • Coordinate teaching and learning across assigned departments or phases, ensuring consistency of approach and high expectations for all students.
  • Support colleagues through mentoring, coaching, and collaborative planning, sharing best practices and resources.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of professional development sessions aligned with school priorities and staff needs.
  • Conduct lesson observations, learning walks, and work scrutiny alongside senior leaders, providing constructive feedback to improve practice.
  • Help induct and support new and early-career teachers, including ECTs, into school systems and expectations.
  • Liaise between teachers, heads of department, and senior leadership to ensure effective communication and alignment.

Assessment and Student Development

  • Support the assessment, tracking, and reporting of student progress using formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to guide improvement.
  • Help prepare students for internal and external examinations, where applicable, such as IGCSE, A-Level, or other relevant qualifications.
  • Analyse student progress and attainment data to identify trends, close gaps, and inform intervention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and progress.
  • Champion high expectations and outcomes for all learners, including those with SEND, EAL, and gifted and talented students.
