MŌ TĒNEI TŪRANGA | ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re building a new Capability Design team that helps people do their best work—by creating learning experiences that are practical, engaging, and drive real-world performance.
As Learning Design Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of learning across the Co-op. This senior position is responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency, and innovation of learning design across all projects.
Reporting to the Head of Capability Design, you’ll lead a team of learning designers—providing coaching, support, and professional development—while also contributing hands-on during the early phases of discovery and design. You’ll bring deep expertise in instructional design and blended learning, with the ability to guide others in both creative thinking and technical troubleshooting across most training formats, including digital.
You’ll also bring breadth—able to design learning across a wide range of topics, from technical role-based training to enterprise-wide programmes like onboarding and leadership. This variety is core to the role, and we’re looking for someone who can confidently flex across contexts and audiences.
Beyond design, you’ll take a strategic view—contributing to planning conversations, influencing senior stakeholders, and setting standards that lift the quality of learning across the organisation. You’ll also play a key role in enabling collaboration across cross-functional teams, helping establish the mechanisms and rhythms that make it work.
