Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a market leading Defence organisation to recruit a Learning & Development Manager for an initial 6 month contract. There is a rate of £35 PAYE per hour PAYE OR £47.12 Umbrella Per Hour on offer for the successful candidate. The role would involve a hybrid working arrangement with 2 days a week on site in Barrow In Furness and 3 days working from home.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a strategic Learning & Development Manager to oversee the development, execution, and continuous improvement of our training programs and learning initiatives. You will manage a portfolio of training projects aligned with business goals, ensuring content quality, stakeholder engagement, and measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Oversight: Manage a diverse training portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and workforce capability needs.
  • Project Management: Lead training program development from concept to delivery, including needs analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business leaders, HR, and subject matter experts to identify training needs and priorities.
  • Vendor & Budget Management: Select and manage external training vendors; monitor budget and ensure cost-effective delivery.
  • Data & Impact Analysis: Track KPIs, learner feedback, and performance metrics to measure training effectiveness and ROI.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to optimize training processes and content based on feedback and results.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure training programs meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirements where applicable.
  • Team Leadership (if applicable): Manage and mentor L&D coordinators or instructional designers assigned to the portfolio.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to manage complex training programs across diverse functions
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), eLearning tools, and instructional design methodologies
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
