LEARNING EXPERIENCE DESIGNER

The Office of the Provost and Chief Academic Officer at the American University in Dubai invites qualified applicants for
the position of Learning Experience Designer to design and develop engaging online/blended learning experiences. The
ideal candidate will work closely with the provost in leading teaching excellence, and collaborate with faculty/ subject
matter experts to create interactive, learner-centered content, enhancing both in-person and online education through
innovative approaches and cutting-edge technology.
Principal Responsibilities:
• Provide a comprehensive strategy, devised in consultation with the provost, for leveraging technology to drive

learning

  • Collaborate with faculty to identify learning needs and outcomes, ensuring alignment with curriculum goals.
  • Design and develop instructional materials aligned with academic objectives to integrate technology and digital

tools (e.g. Learning Management Systems, multimedia, simulations, educational podcasts, adaptive GenAI

learning tools, etc.) to enhance the teaching and learning experience.

  • Guide and support faculty in the implementation of innovative teaching strategies, including active learning and

HyFlex classrooms.

  • Apply advanced instructional design strategies and models.
  • Customize and manage Learning Management System (LMS) content.
  • Create interactive e-learning modules using authoring tools. Design and develop engaging, interactive, and

accessible instructional materials and learning activities for both in-person and online/blended formats.

  • Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of instructional materials and courses through feedback, data analysis, and

ongoing improvements.

  • Provide training and professional development for faculty on best practices in instructional design, educational

technology, and course delivery to ensure effective usage of the instructional technologies.

  • Stay current with trends and advancements in educational technology, pedagogical theory, and instructional

design practices.

Competencies and Skills Used:

  • Experience in applying innovative teaching strategies in face to face and/or online/ blended university courses
  • Proficiency in e-learning tools and LMS platforms.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends like AI, VR, and AR in education.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design models, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent project management, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field. PhD preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or related field in higher

education.

  • Experience in higher education or curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes in higher education.
