Team members collaborate to help learners progress, achieve their potential, and prepare for positive futures in further education, training, or employment.Role Description The Learning Mentor role is a full-time, on-site position based in Hallatrow. The Learning Mentor will support individual learners and small groups, helping them engage with their education through structured activities, coaching, and encouragement. Day-to-day tasks include planning and delivering learning sessions in line with tailored programmes, monitoring progress, and providing feedback to teaching staff and families. The role involves building positive, professional relationships with learners, managing behaviour in a calm and consistent way, and promoting emotional wellbeing and resilience. The Learning Mentor will also contribute to reports, attend team meetings, and work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to ensure consistent support for each learner.Qualifications Experience supporting children or young people in educational, youth work, or care settings, with a focus on engagement and motivation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust, listen actively, and adapt communication to different needs.
Ability to manage challenging behaviour constructively and maintain a calm, professional approach in a variety of situations.
Organisational skills, including planning learning activities, recording progress accurately, and working effectively within set procedures.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles, and commitment to promoting learner wellbeing and safety.
Capacity to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and also independently with minimal supervision.
Basic IT skills for recording information, preparing resources, and communicating with colleagues.
Relevant qualification or training in education, youth work, or a related field is desirable; experience working in alternative provision or SEN settings is an advantage.
