LEARNING MENTOR – FULL-TIME, LONG-TERM TO PERMANENT OPPORTUNITIES

Location: South West London
Start Date: ASAP or September 2025
Salary: £85 - £100 per day, depending on experience (PAYE only – no umbrella deductions)

Parker Smith Inclusion is working in partnership with several outstanding SEND schools across South West London to recruit Learning Mentors for long-term to permanent roles. These full-time positions are ideal for those seeking hands-on experience in specialist education settings that support children and young people with Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK – sponsorship is not available
  • Availability for full-time work, Monday to Friday during term time

Responsibilities

WHAT DOES A LEARNING MENTOR ROLE INVOLVE?

You’ll play a crucial part in the daily lives of neurodivergent pupils aged 7–19, including:

  • 1:1 and small group support for learners with Autism, SEMH, and complex communication needs
  • Supporting students with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Assisting with sensory sessions, hydrotherapy, rebound therapy, and creative learning approaches
  • Encouraging pupil engagement in education by building positive, trusting relationships
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, SENCOs and external agencies
  • Supporting personal care and learning routines within a therapy-led or trauma-informed setting

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT:

  • Aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, speech and language therapists or clinical psychologists
  • Graduates in Psychology, Education, Youth Work, Social Work, or similar fields
  • Experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, youth mentors or carers
  • Individuals who are patient, emotionally resilient and genuinely passionate about SEND
  • Candidates who are confident working with children with high sensory and behavioural needs
