ABOUT THE SCHOOL - AKELEY WOOD JUNIOR
Akeley Wood School is a dynamic and friendly place to work with opportunities for professional development. We educate around 700 children across three campuses and have a progressive approach to teaching and learning. We strive for a holistic education at Akeley wood and achieve this through the supportive environment and diverse breadth of learning and development within our School.
We look to recruit high calibre staff committed to achieving the highest standards and to actively take part in the school life.
The school now has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Learning Support Assistant 1:1 to join our fantastic team.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
You’ll be a calm, empathetic and proactive presence, building a positive and consistent relationship with the pupil and their family. You’ll need a strong understanding of SEND and the strategies that support learning and behaviour, as well as a clear commitment to safeguarding. Experience in an educational setting is essential, along with the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with both children and adults. If you’re flexible, compassionate, and genuinely believe that every child can achieve their potential with the right support, this is a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting difference. You’ll be supported by a collaborative team and will have access to relevant training to further your development as part of our inclusive school community.
Benefits at Cognita:
As a 1:1 Learning Assistant, you will support a pupil with additional needs to thrive both in and out of the classroom. Working closely with the Inclusion Lead and Class Teachers, you will tailor learning experiences, adapt resources, and help deliver targeted interventions. You’ll play a vital role in supporting the pupil’s academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development—helping them grow in confidence and independence across the school day.
