Description

We are looking for dynamic teaching assistants to support:

  • a small class of (secondary age) pupils with a range of special needs who are working at Key Stage 1/2;
  • pupils across year groups in our main school
  • students in the sixth form

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or childcare setting. - Essential
Experience working 1:1 and in small groups to support learning. - Desirable
Understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). - Desirable

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above). - Essential
Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification - Desirable
A willingness to pursue ongoing personal development training - Essential
Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice - Desirable
Knowledge of a range of Special Needs - Desirable
Experience working with pupils with SEND - Desirable
Experience working with secondary children working well below their chronological age - Desirable

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

A good understanding of a range of special educational needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, sensory processing difficulties). - Desirable
Ability to adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual pupil needs. - Desirable
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) to engage with pupils, parents, and staff. - Desirable
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures. - Essential
Competence in using ICT to support learning. - Essential

ADDITIONAL FACTORS

Ability to work as part of a team - Essential
Possess a level of general computer literacy with a range of IT skills - Desirable
Good organisational skills - Desirable
