JOB SUMMARY

The Learning Support Assistant plays a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, particularly those with autism and other disabilities. This position involves working closely with teachers and other educational staff to create an inclusive environment that fosters the academic and social development of children. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the educational experience for all students, especially those requiring additional support.

QUALIFICATIONS /EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs or disabilities, is highly desirable.
  • A background in teaching or relevant qualifications in education or child development is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with autism spectrum conditions and effective strategies for supporting individuals on the spectrum is essential.
  • Strong communication skills are required to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A compassionate approach towards working with individuals with disabilities is crucial for success in this role.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being capable of taking initiative when necessary.
  • Previous experience in toddler care would be beneficial but not mandatory. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children requiring additional support within an educational setting.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programmes for students with special educational needs.
  • Provide one-on-one support to children, particularly those with autism and other disabilities, to help them engage in classroom activities.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment by promoting social skills and emotional well-being.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers as necessary.
  • Support students during lessons, ensuring they understand tasks and are able to participate fully.
  • Assist in the care of toddlers when required, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to build strong relationships that support learning outcomes.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special education.
