An opportunity has arisen for a Learning Support Assistant to work within the Therapies and Education Service at Rampton Hospital.
The main purpose of the role is to deliver learning strategies alongside and under the supervision of a Lecturer.
The post holder will support patients who have various educational and neurodiverse needs.
The successful candidate will join an established team of educators and support the fantastic work they are doing.
Please note that this post does not meet the pay or skill level required for a Skilled worker visa.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the
bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum
salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these
circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker/Health & Care visa.

The post holder will support patients within a day unit setting and on the wards.
The aim is for patients to achieve educational goals, work towards their recovery and to develop the requisite skills that will assist access to their treatment pathway.
The successful candidate will need to be empathetic, observant and confident. You will be working with people who have severe mental health issues, having patience is paramount to the role. Keeping patients engaged is another key aspect of this role so a passion for teaching and learning is essential.

Provide teaching support in group sessions under the direction of a qualified teacher.
Escort patients to and from sessions.
Delegated teaching support caseload from relevant qualified teachers.
Produce reports for patients in collaboration with qualified teacher.
Complete electronic records regarding the patients you have engaged with.
Work to Trust Policies and Procedures.
Keep environment safe by upholding security and operational procedures and reporting any concerns.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
