Description Learning Support Specialist Appointment Type: Full Time Job Summary: The role of the Learning Support Specialist is to provide Tier Two academic intervention to scholars that need additional instruction outside of the classroom. This person should have the ability to align their work to an established, clear vision to help the district meet its goals and improve overall outcomes. I. Position Relationships: Reports to: Elementary Academic Support Manager Coordinates with: Director of Academic Intervention; Elementary Leadership; Elementary Teachers, Academic Intervention Specialists II. Position Responsibilities: Planning and Instruction ? Implement differentiated interventions to be delivered during the school day using the provided curriculum. ? Collaborate with the Elementary Academic Support Manager to use data to modify lesson plans to target specific student gaps. ? Use a wide variety of instructional resources to aid in student learning. Assessment and Data ? Use assessment tools to measure and data track student progress. ? Monitor and maintain student achievement data associated with RTI, providing regular updates to teachers and colleagues. Professional Responsibilities ? Attending faculty meetings and parent conferences ? Communicate effectively with families, building/district staff, and administration ? Be aware of and/or participate on school teams for student achievement data analysis. ? Supporting with arrival and dismissal of students ? Perform other duties as assigned/as needed by your supervisor and other administrators. III. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics ? Three years of experience working with students in a school or similar setting, preferably as a tutor or instructional paraprofessional ? Strong content knowledge in literacy or mathematics ? Experience reading and analyzing student data ? Strong oral and written communication skills ? Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships ? The desire to work hard and work collaboratively ? The desire to grow professionally and respond to regular feedback IV. Required Qualifications: ? Associates Degree or 48 credits from an accredited college or university
