We are looking for a Learning Support Teacher and SEN Specialist for an international school in Changshu, Jiangsu province. This position is available from the upcoming 2026–27 academic year in August 2026. About the role This role ensures all students, regardless of learning profile or ability, can access the curriculum through timely identification, assessment, and targeted intervention. Working in close partnership with teachers, families, pastoral teams, and external specialists, the Learning Support & SEN Specialist strengthens inclusion, student wellbeing, and academic progress. The position implements evidence-based support strategies aligned with IB principles and the school’s policies and procedures. Job details Conduct and/or coordinate individual and group assessments (e.g., dyslexia/dyscalculia portfolios) and interpret results to guide support. Develop, implement, and maintain IEPs/Student Support Plans with accurate, confidential documentation. Monitor progress using formative and summative data, reporting regularly and adjusting interventions as needed. Design and deliver evidence-based interventions aligned with a scientist-practitioner approach and inclusive best practice. Differentiate curriculum, instruction, and assessment; provide support via co-teaching, small-group, and one-to-one instruction. Provide specialized instruction when required, including alternative curricula and appropriate assistive technologies. Support targeted skill development in literacy, numeracy, organization, and social-emotional learning, promoting independence and self-regulation. Work closely with Learning Center, teaching, pastoral and external specialists to ensure coordinated, student-centered provision. Coach and consult teachers on SEN strategies, differentiation, and positive behavior/inclusion practices; deliver staff training and PD. Communicate proactively with parents/caregivers, including conferences, workshops, and referral recommendations to external services when appropriate. Serve as an advisor/House-affiliated faculty member in the residential program, contributing to student wellbeing, reporting, check-ins, and school events/volunteering.
